Uniting Amala is a welcoming and well-appointed aged care home in the Canberra suburb of Gordon. You’ll enjoy round-the-clock support and peace of mind in modern surrounds. This gives you and your fellow residents more choice to decide how your daily lives run. From the activities you take part in to the meals you enjoy and the times you wake and retire, you’ll shape your day-to-day. Even our layout has been considered to ensure Uniting Amala is as homely as possible. In January 2020, the Commission raised a number of areas where Amala needed to improve in order to fully comply with standards and requirements. These areas included; better matching our staffing to resident need, and, improving our complaint/feedback mechanisms and assessment/care planning processes. Since that time, we have worked hard to implement a continuous improvement plan. We are confident that we have addressed all concerns and are now able to demonstrate full compliance with all standards and requirements.

I'm told that the evening meals lack nutrition and flavour. I once saw an evening meal containing a blob if (instant?) mashed potato, 2 sausages, a lettuce leaf, a slice of cucumber and a little tomato served without any kind of dressing. I'm told that people in the care areas often complain about those meals but it all falls on deaf ears. If these stories are aa true as they appear to be, shame on the uniting church. Whatever happened to love God and love your neighbour? Maybe it's a staffing issue? I'm sure it's hard to find the right people. Baptist care seems to have a much better reputation.
Home makers and carers are very dedicated. Clinical nurses are professional and caring. The Service Manager Michael is supportive and helpful. We're are very grateful that Dad is in good hands. We cant thank the teams at at Uniting Amala Gordon enough.
Michael, the manager, is very kind, extremely helpful, very polite, very approachable, he is always keen to make Amala's experience, a wonderful one for both residents and their visitors. Thank you Michael. Thank you Shiba for your help throughout this journey of transition to nursing home for my Father The carers and home makers, the physiotherapists at Snow Gum are very caring and kind people, and even though they are busy, they always manage to smile, they are "the God Sent Angels". The Residents in Snow Gum, which is a high care house, they are like a family to one another, with care, consideration, and kindness. Thank you to my father's carers, home makers, all physiotherapists, admin team and all residents especially Michael, the manager and Shiba, for making Snow Gum@ Amala a warm and caring, decency and respectful place. From the bottom of my heart.
Admin teams especially deputy manager Jane has aweful customer service . Very rude and impolite
Mum has been a resident at Amala for the past 3 years and I couldn't be happier. The facilities are fantastic, the activities bring Mum a lot of joy (even during COVID), and the Carers have been amazing. They genuinely care about Mum and always manage to get a smile or a laugh out of her. The home style facilities have also made the move into Aged Care a lot easier for her (this from the woman that always said "I'm never going to some nursing home!"). A huge thank you to all of the staff. It certainly eases our minds knowing that Mum is so well cared for.
