My mum has been in Bethania Gardens since December 2024. She and I had looked at this facility and I thought it was nice. In December of 2024 it became necessary for mum to be placed in a facility urgently, and St Jude’s was able to accommodate her. Initially I thought it was okay. My sister has spent almost every second day with mum, and she has found that it is not okay. Communication is very poor. There are some good staff, but there are also terrible ones. Their response time is pretty poor, particularly for toileting needs. Messages are given to staff and the manager, and they are not followed through. Their billing practices lack transparency. When complaints are made or issues raised, they seem to be disregarded or dismissed. I’m sure there are probably people who are happy with the care their loved ones are receiving but overall, our family is not happy. It is one of the cheaper options for aged care, but we had hoped this would not mean a lesser level of care. Overall - barring a couple of lovely, caring staff members - the experience has been below expectations and standards. Our mum is now receiving palliative care, and we are hoping she finds peace quickly. She actually said she would rather die than have to stay. Just about sums it all up.
