Donvale Gardens Assisted Aged Care is truly in a class of its own. The standard of care provided is exceptional, and is all you could possibly wish for yourself, or your loved ones once placement into respite or permanent residential care is required. As a former nurse in aged care, and full-time live in carer for over 5 and a half years for both my parents, my expectations for the standard of care in an aged care facility were so high, I didn't believe any facility could come close to the care I expected for my parents. I am so very pleased and thankful that Donvale Gardens Assisted Aged Care have exceeded my extremely high expectations! Upon entering the facility, it feels like home. The interior of residence has a beautiful, calming ambiance, and the facility is set amongst lovely established trees with well maintained gardens for residents and their families to enjoy. The rooms are very spacious and welcoming, the ensuites are modern and perfectly equipped. After moving our 93 year old Mum from another facility, and needing to place our 92 year old Dad into residential care also, we feel so very fortunate to have found this unique, family owned, assisted aged care facility. The communication from the nursing staff to the residents and their family members is promt and detailed. I am kept very well informed of all medical matters and updates, and any questions or requests I have are both responded and attended to swiftly. Every single member of the staff, regardless of the role they provide for the residents, demonstrates the highest levels of professionalism, care, concern, dedication, kindness, and attention to detail. It shines through that all the staff treat their residents like family members. Their happy, smiling faces, and their ability to lift my parents spirits with their playful interactions, brings Mum and Dad so much happiness and makes them feel really special. The staff are an outstanding team who clearly enjoy their very important roles of working and interacting with their residents. The kindness and support from the staff is also extended to their residents families, which is very much appreciated. All aged care facilities should aspire to provide the superior level of care offered by Donvale Gardens Assissted Aged Care. I highly recommend this wonderful assisted aged care facility to anyone looking for the very best of care for themselves or a beloved family member. Donvale gardens is one in a million. I have worked in several NH’s and was reluctant to place my mum in care , but I was blown away with the professionalism, love , kindness and care given to my mum , by ALL staff , she actually loved it and everyone there , saying I couldn’t get any better care ,the staff are so kind and gentle. She had been in respite in another facility and refused to go back , here she was scared they would want her to leave. Would highly recommend Donvale gardens to anyone. THANK YOU To all the staff , keep up your good work you are all AMAZING 💐
From the minute we walked in with my mum we felt the love and kindness from all Staff. My mum would say to us , everyone is so beautiful and I could not get any better care. She loved her room with a court yard and she would say the food is so good. Everyone from staff residents to families all were so kind and friendly. We were amazed how great the facility was. Mum was only there for 10 weeks before she suddenly passed away but we could not fault one thing or person. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for a new home for a loved one. We could go home and relax that she was happy and so well cared for. Donvale Gardens has a perfect feel , aura , environment, community ,which is very special and rare 🫶🏼
My mother-in-law spent two weeks at Donvale Gardens Aged Care last July for two weeks while recovering from a torn ligament in her arm. My wife was so nervous booking her in as she has always looked after her mum but this time, she was forced to seek outside support. My wife and my mother-in-law found that Donvale Gardens Aged Care did not disappoint. Jami at reception showed my wife the complex and was very professional explaining everything. All the staff were kind, caring and welcoming. The kitchen staff cooked lovely meals and tried to cater for my mother-in-laws diabetic diet. The complex was very clean and had a fresh smell. The environment was relaxed, warm and welcoming. The bedroom was large and very clean. My wife would recommend this Aged Care facility to anyone needing to put a relative in for respite care.

I don’t usually post reviews, however after reading the 1 star rubbish on here that is very clearly written by a disgruntled ex-staff member, I felt it necessary to share my experiences and something actually genuine. I have been involved in the process of having my father move to Donvale Gardens Aged Care and from the moment I expressed interest, to the transmission and admission stage, to the ongoing care and support I cannot be happier about the choice I have made. We interacted with Jaimi from the start and for someone like myself that has never experienced this process, she could not have made it easier, friendlier and welcoming. Jaimi assisted in everything from finance discussion, to paperwork and showing us around the site. It was Jaimi’s initial communication, professionalism and commitment to making my father happy that really sold us on this residence. Since residence and on visits, I have also had a lot to do with Joanna, the clinical care manager. She has been amazing at the care and support my father has received. I’m incredibly assured that my father is getting the best support he can and I’m provided with regular updates about his health.
My mother has been in respite at Donvale Gardens for a month, soon she will become permanent as she is very happy at Donvale. Mum had a bad experience in another nursing home where she suffered high levels of anxiety as she was very unhappy we worried about her that we had to take her away from there, mum went back home as she never wanted to go in a nursing home again but at 96 years of age my siblings & I worried about leaving mum at home as we could only have someone there with her every second night, then our mum had a fall and she knew that she couldnt stay at home alone anymore. Mum is very happy at Donvale as All the staff are so supportive, understanding & kind. I have found all the staff at Donvale very approachable and are always happy to help. Jamie at the front desk is so lovely she always has a friendly smile and makes you feel very welcomed. Donvale Gardens is a place that I feel when I leave mum she is in very good hands. Thanking all the staff at Donvale Gardens for caring for my beautiful mum and making her very happy & feeling safe 💖

From the moment you arrive, you're welcomed by a warm, family-run, boutique organisation that genuinely prioritises residents, their families, and the staff who support them. This is a facility that leads with compassion, not profit. They consistently empower residents to live with dignity and purpose, and they create an environment where families feel included and supported. Staff are valued, encouraged, and given opportunities to grow, which shows in the quality of care provided every day. Having visited many aged care homes across Melbourne’s east and south east, I can confidently say that Donvale Gardens stands out as one of the best—if not the best. The culture, the care and the commitment here are second to none. Highly recommended.
