Your 'acknowledgement' of my (Luisa Childs) concerns re: animal welfare specifically, the parrot in your care is inadequate. Animals including birds require more than feeding/watering, cleaning and vet care. They are sentient beings like the people in your care and require enrichment to ensure their happiness and well-being. As mentioned this could involve providing a bird companion, providing real plants in the cage and making it feel like the outdoors. Ideally it would also include taking the bird out of the cage to let it fly around in a closed off part of the centre. Leaving it in a barren cage is akin to leaving someone in a prison cell. Parrots are highly intelligent and this is cruel.
I visited here with my elderly father as we were looking for a place for him to receive respite care. Incredibly sadly I saw they keep a parrot locked up in a cage at all times with little to no enrichment. Parrots can live for decades and this one would have little quality of life which is cruel. No plants to make it feel natural. No second parrot to keep it company and absolutely no freedom to fly outside of the narrow enclosure. If this is how they treat innocent animals then this is no place to leave my father.
