I am very disappointed by the reaction of the staff at this village. I had been unable to contact my elderly friend aged in his 90’s (who incidentally is now having problems walking as well as he used to and lives in a unit up a flight of stairs with NO lift) for a couple of days. I rang and spoke to a lady who was “stuck” on reception and asked if someone could go around to check on my friend. I was told no one could call me back due to the privacy of the resident so I asked her to pass a message on to my friend to call me. An hour and a half later, I rang back to be told he had been seen around the village over the weekend and had been booked on the village bus today - but she didn’t know if he had got on the bus. I know it’s only a retirement village not an aged care facility but I’m not impressed by this lack of care. I doubt a coroner would have looked favourably on this lack of action if my friend had had an accident or had died suddenly. Luckily he has since called me but had had no contact from Village Management for the preceding two hours.
