I don't regret for one moment moving into Parkside with the IRT. I made a decision a long time ago in relation to moving into an over 55's lifestyle village that IRT Parkside was the only choice for me. Sadly a couple of aspects of the process have left me feeling very disappointed. On the day I inspected the unit that I placed an offer on, both IRT representatives assured me despite my complicated circumstances there was no issue whatsoever in relation to settlement time. "Whatever it takes" I was told. I moved my furniture into the unit under a "Licence to Store" which allowed me to store my furniture but not move in. I paid a deposit on 10/3/25 and then made another payment 24/3/25. The IRT had 85.5 percent of the total purchase price of the unit within two weeks of me paying a deposit. The accomodation I was living in was totally unsuitable (my car) for my disability so I approached the IRT with a view to paying rent to occupy the unit. I was not expecting to pay full commercial rent , I was expecting to pay an appropriate level of rent given the IRT had 85.5 per cent of the purchase price in their account. I was however asked to pay full commercial rent for the best part of two months until my divorce settlement came through. It was made very clear to me during those two months the IRT wanted the process sped up. The family court and it's process could care less what the IRT want. The IRT made me feel very uncomfortable. It seems to be all about the money. Whilst I appreciated the opportunity to move into accomodation appropriate for my disability, I do think the IRT took advantage of my circumstances. The IRT had 85.5 per cent of the value of the unit in their account, yet I was charged full commercial rent for more than 2 months. Opportunistic is the word that comes to mind. Since moving in about 6 months ago I have made repeated requests for access to a disabled parking spot. I have Parkinsons, a disabled parking permit and I use a walker. No response to date. I do understand disabled parking spots are in demand. I do not understand why the IRT is not effectivley managaging the needs of disabled residents. At the very least the IRT could provide an update. Nobody likes to feel as if they are being ignored.

We love living here because of the friends we’ve made since 2018, and we appreciate the wonderful cafe Utopia who are always welcoming. However I agree with Marcus in the rest of his comments.

Response to IRT Parkside Survey 3 Jan. 2025 Parkside is ideally located, easy walking distances from the beaches, Harbour, entertainment, all public services and major supermarkets and shopping malls. And we have internal access to an excellent cafe, Utopia which is well placed to attract outside clientele as well as our residents. The building is unique, has well designed apartments attracting a well-balanced and friendly demographic from first occupation in mid 2018. We all love living here. That said, in my view, and that of many other residents, the overall management of IRT seems somewhat dysfunctional, from the top down, resulting with inefficiencies in the processes of managing our facility. This is not the place for detail comment, but it is worth noting that rectification of building deficiencies and regular maintenance and cleaning activities are the main sources of resident concerns. A consequence has been an ongoing rapid deterioration of the Parkside and Residential Villages financials. The major recreational area has been barely fit for purpose since day one, largely due IRT management difficulties with Howard Court residents who had been on the Pioneer Place site since 1992. Pioneer Place is the Illawarra Retirement Trust's best and most prominent properties. The Residents Committees have been highlighting these issues from formation in 2019 and the potential impacts on our building's future. We are not aware if our concerns have reached Board level. We appreciate the complexity and diversity of aged care management. Parkside is the start of our journey into aged care. Our experiences here will influence our future aged care decision making." Thank you for the nice email: "Dear Christopher, It’s been a pleasure having you as part of our Parkside at IRT Pioneer Place community. Your thoughts and experiences help us create the best possible environment for everyone who calls Parkside at IRT Pioneer Place home. We’d be so grateful if you could take a moment to share your feedback by leaving a Google review............" There are many nice things about Parkside being our home, however there seem to be several seious problems with the basic sert-up of "IRT Pioneer Place Parkside": - PROBLEMS THAT ARE NOT BEING ADDRESSED BY IRT. 1. The lack of visitor parking provision, especially for medical personnel, or home help personnel. It is not unusual for retired /aged people to need such visitors to continue to enjoy living at Parkside. 2. The lack of sensible sharing arrangements of common area facilities between "IRT Pioneer Place Howard Court" and IRT Pioneer Place Parkside" Thank you for the opportuinity to provide this feedback. This is where I met the Italian couple, Luigi and Rosa. Helen said Rosa will be translating but when I got to the bank swift code, Luigi was fine on his own.. I think he knows more then I am telling him except when I got to the banking swift numbers. This is a very nice, secure place, with very nice and humble people.

Awesome best physical therapy I have had! Love the holistic and caring approach! Can't get this kind of service anymore in the multicare facilities.
