Major rat test etc to get in, then log in and then felt the staff wre so busy trying to deal with residents that a lot were not looked after and certainly seemed left.

Unfortunate first encounter. No one at reception and no way to gain attention. Gained attention of a staff member who gave number of room and name of wing...then, you were on your own. Impression was of a cold establishment...

UPDATE December 2022: There have been some recent changes to management at this facility, and an increase in staff turnover. This may impact (positively or negatively) on some of the points in my original review. ORIGINAL REVIEW: Having seen and heard some bad experiences re nursing homes, we looked at nearly every nursing home in Brisbane when we were deciding where my wife's elderly parents could be cared for - and what we saw and heard, and our instincts, suggested this place was the best. Three years down the track and we cannot fault Fairview. Here is what makes it great: 1. The facility is modern, clean, tidy, roomy and very well run and maintained. 2. The carers are very friendly, happy and professional at what they do. 3. The facility seems to have a very high carer to resident ratio. 4. The workforce turnover is very low - this is super-critical for many residents because they like to see the same familiar faces and don't cope well if their care providers keep changing all the time. 5. Probably because of point 3, the carers always seem to know exactly what your loved one's situation is at any given moment. It's almost like the entire team has a morning briefing every day where the situation of each and every resident is discussed (maybe they do). This is very reassuring for family because you know that your loved one is being noticed and any issues they have are being attended to. 6. Where a problem arises with your loved one, it is invariably attended to without hesitation. If it is a simple issue that they can just fix, they fix it. If it requires a doctor's intervention, they advise you and make it happen. If your loved one is injured in any way - even for quite minor injuries - you are always advised. 7. The food is excellent - cooked on the premises by professional chefs. Again this is super-critical for the residents because food is one of the few remaining pleasures some of them have. 8. The supplementary professional care they have access to (geriatricians, doctors, physiotherapists etc) have, in our experience, been top notch. There is a lot more, and I could go on, but I believe I have captured the main strengths of Fairview in the above. Whatever facility you choose, remember that the physical quality of the facility itself is only a small portion of what is important. The most important factor is the compassion and professionalism of the carers. A fancy, modern building is of no use at all if it is full of people who don't want to be there and just see themselves as 'staff', not carers. Hope this helps someone.

Did a tour and was pleasantly surprised by both the Aged Care facility and the Retirement Village. I would love to get placement for my parents there. In comparison to several other facilities in the area Bolton Clarke Pinjarra Hills is a standout for me.

Lovely staff so helpful and friendly, place is beautiful and well presented. Modest rooms, quality curtains, spacious ensuite.

Mother-in-law is using self contained accommodation. Very nice facilities, she has no problems getting any maintenance.
