Dearest Mel and the team at Speech & Language support services, I would really like to thank you for everything you have done for my son Matteo, and for me as a new mum! Matteo started speech therapy with Melinda at 2 years old with hardly any sounds and just “da” for dad and shaking his head for no being his only forms of communication. This was very stressful and worrying and I wanted to do everything I could to help his language skills develop. After taking the time and getting to know Matteo, Melinda made a positive connection, did consistent work, and listened to understand the way Matteo learns and this has made the biggest difference in his language and communication development. Mel has given Matteo the tools and confidence to progress and has helped me as a new mum dealing with all these challenges in more ways than I could ever imagine. Melinda, your knowledge and experience has been a priceless gift for us. Now Matteo is 3 1/2 years old, saying more words every week, becoming clearer, therefore improving his confidence to keep trying and practicing. All the advice I have received where we can implement things at home and in our day to day lives has made a huge impact. So much work and so many little things has made the biggest difference for us now. After severe separation anxiety we were unable to settle Matteo into daycare a year ago, and now he is excited to go to Kindy every day and has a fantastic time! We have come so far to get to this beautiful time where Matteos language development is helping him learn and grow so much and it is so exciting for all of us. Thank you to Mel and the team, we understand and appreciate all the continued hard work you do more than you could imagine.
