I have been working with Tamara for the past 6+ years. She has been instrumental in teaching my 2 AuAdHd children social communication/scripts, social role-play, and improving speech difficulties - ie. comprehension of verbal and non-verbal cues, emotions and non-literal speech (ie. sarcasm). She has improved my son's limited speech remarkedly and shown both my children how to respond appropriately to others, how to engage in to and fro conversation (we are still getting there), how to actively listen and not interrupt (a work in progress.) Tamara is patient, kind, tolerant and understanding of the difficulties my AuDhD children face. Working with Tamara they have learnt and now use typical social speech and speech conventions - those everyday nicities that most people (neurotypicals) innately know, and they are now able to (mostly) use socially acceptable behaviour. My children now say good morning to me instead of simply ignoring me or screaming at me. Hugs - well, that is still reserved for special occasions, but now they understand that birthdays are for others too and not just them and if a hug can be given then, that is the best birthday present. Ha! Meltdowns, yes these still occur but these are much less, and much more manageable because Tamara has taught us all strategies to use. Tamara has been wonderful. My children would not be where they are today without her expertise and we still utilise her services.
