Wouldn’t know where to begin. My Mum is dying of cancer and needs to be surrounded by peace and caring people, not dishonesty, deception and plain disrespectful people. No one seems to know what they are doing in this company. The case managers have no idea how to case manage, they remove mobility ramps leaving no exit down causing my father to break his ankle, the company lie, cheat innocent clients of their home care package funding and the list goes on. Do not go with Bolton Clarke as a home care package provider under any circumstances. It would have to be the worst company I have even known of in my entire life. They should be investigated by the media.

They don’t accommodate disability requirements. They can’t get organised to send the same staff each week. A terrible decline in service delivery since this service left council control.

Bolton Clarke have been providing home nursing visits for wound care and dressing changes to me for more than 2 years. They have some excellent and highly professional nurses. They have some very average nurses and they have some nurses who clearly can’t be bothered or have forgotten how to perform simple wound care. The anxiety of not knowing whether I’ll get a good nurse on days when I have a visit scheduled is very unpleasant. I have a very basic understanding of hygiene practices such as no touch handling and whilst some nurses have excellent technique, others need retraining or simply can’t be bothered to do their job properly. It distresses me that most patients would have no idea whether their wound care is being done properly or not. There are some nurses who don’t bother with no touch handling, never change their gloves unless I ask them to, even if they’ve interrupted my cares to answer their phone! Because many visits are performed by lone nurses, this kind of malpractice goes completely unnoticed. I’ve raised this with some nurses who clearly take pride in their technique. They are well aware of it, they say they’re sometimes horrified by what they see when doubling with another nurse, but are afraid to speak up. Some nurses have said that things like hygiene standards vary from lat to lat, depending who is in charge and who trained the nurses in that lat. I think if Bolton Clarke were to examine the number of patients who acquire wound or ostomy infections, and cross reference it with the nurses they’ve seen, there will be some strong correlations that become apparent. There also seems to be a fear among nurses of all levels of experience to speak up and say something when tasked with doing something they’re rusty or out of practice for, so they attempt it anyway and make mistakes as a result. I believe all of these problems stem from middle and upper management issues, who don’t know and don’t want to know what is going on. I say this based upon my discussions with nurses who are prepared to discuss these matters frankly.

the nurses are very nice... But they have about 4 different nurses and the nurses are not on the same page. one nurse says do it this way and another says do it another way causing confusion to patient and one time the incorrect dose was nearly administered but i was there to catch the mistake and they always turn up 1hr to 2hrs late .......

If I could give 0 stars I would. When seeking a provider for our package they sent their rep around promising the WORLD. A cleaner, in home respite, a gardener, a GPS tracker for the wanderer etc etc etc. In the following months they delivered less than a tenth of what they promised, despite regular prompts and demands. Eventually the patient ended up in care and $12000+ unused funding was returned to the Gov. Meanwhile Bolton Clarke pocketed THOUSANDS for the so called ‘management’ of the package. Absolutely pathetic and such a disappointing and disheartening experience for the carer, who was now not only dealing with the grief of losing a partner, but also the disappointment of receiving none of the support promised. The windows are still dirty and the grass is still long. AVOID. DO NOT ALLOW BOLTON CLARK TO MANAGE YOUR CARER’S PACKAGE.
